Scope and Content

Wilkinson begins with a description of his departure from Tokyo and his change over in Manila. With his arrival in Bangkok we get an account of his first impressions, the climate, language, population, constitution, and the people as well as some of the sights in Bangkok, and a trip to Bangkok Zoo, Si-Yaek Mahanak, Klong Bang Laung, wats or temples of Bangkok, the Pasteur Institute with its snake farm, the National Museum, Sempang, and Nakon Kasem Compound.

He has dinner with the directors of the four main hospitals visits the Women's Hospital and Paediatric Hospital, and the Siriraj Hospital. In all of these he meets with medical staff doing specific research into the treatment of haematological disorders and discusses a number of cases and also gives a lecture on leukaemias.
