Scope and Content

Typescript copies of the director's annual report and report on research work done in the cardiographic laboratory. In addition there are two draft summaries of the annual report with annotations.

The annual report details the research workers along with their investigations as Dr A. Bodoano (investigations into the pre-mature erythrocyte), Dr L. Klein (the active principle of stomach tissues), Dr M. Egan (investigations of secondary anaemia), Dr W. Brockbank (lung cancer and the mechanism of abnormal respiration), and Wilkinson (pernicious anaemia, gastric functions in pernicious anaemia, achlorhydric syndrome, gastric secretion in psoriasis vulgaris, achlorhydric anaemia, Raynaud's Disease, blood phosphatase in bone diseases, essential hypertension, gastric secretion, and the investigation into the familial incidence of achlorhydria and pernicious anaemia).

The report on the cardiographic laboratory highlights the work of Bramwell and Ellis into cardio-respiratory disorders of cotton operatives, the work of Bramwell and Regan into cardiac complications of pregnancy and labour, Braithwaite's investigation into graphic registration of the Korotkow sounds, and Guthrie's work into the clinical significance of the different types of cardiac impulse in cases of heart disease.
