The Evans' Biological Institute

Scope and Content

Correspondence between Wilkinson and representatives of the Evans' Biological Institute at Runcorn, Cheshire focusing predominantly on supplies of Neo-Hepatex, figures and reports of trials with different batches of Neo-Hepatex, and concerns over failures with Neo-Hepatex elsewhere. There are also references to the earlier testing of fish liver extract carried out by Wilkinson, the labelling of liver extracts, Neo-Hepatex prepared from whale livers, blood transfusion apparatus, failures of Neo-Hepatex as a result of administration, and its use in conjunction with ascorbic acid.

Neo-Hepatex was a liver extract preparation being used by Wilkinson in the treatment of pernicious anaemia.
