Dr Clare Taylor was a member of the Department of History of the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. Amongst her publications are Wales and the American Civil War, 1972 and Samuel Roberts and his circle : migration from Llanbrynmair, Montgomeryshire, to America, 1790-1890, 1974.
