The Medical Committee of Senate was established in 1966. It was responsible for administering the award of titles for honorary and part-time members of staff within the Faculty of Medicine. This encompassed recommending full-time academic members of the Faculty for honorary consultant posts at local hospitals, and granting honorary academic titles to medical personnel who undertook teaching duties on behalf of the University. It is believed the Committee was disbanded in 1976.
