These photographs were given to the office via Berkshire Record Office in April 1995 as accession 3970.

Mapledurham Mill was mentioned in Domesday Book as being worth 20s.and 20a.meadow.The mill was part of the Manor of Mapledurham and the tenants would have had to have their corn ground there. Apparently though it was used by people from both sides of the Thames as Sir John Bardolf (d.1375) built and maintained a bridge.The mill has now been restored and is open to the public.
