North West Yorkshire Area Group

Scope and Content

Comprising the minutes and correspondence of the North West Area Group.
The Group was established in 1972, alongside the East Yorkshire, Mid-West Yorkshire, South West Yorkshire and North East Yorkshire Area Groups. The area the group had responsibility for, based on Watsonian Vice County 65 (VC65), 'stretched from the watershed at Wharfedale and Wensleydale up to Northumberland and Durham, and west of the A1 to Lancashire, including Masham, Bedale, Leyburn and Richmond'.
The Group's first Chairman was Dr Michael Thompson and its first officer with responsibility for Conservation was Catherine 'Kit' Rob. The first reserve in this area was Tow Hill, which is no longer managed by the Trust.
