General Site File

Papers relating to the stewardship of Strensall Common, comprising letters, site reports and access licences. The file includes information on the Ebor Way, tree felling, site access and grazing. The file also documents the tensions between the Ministry of Defence (owners of the majority of the site), the Strensall Parish Council and other independent landowners as well as ongoing communication with the Internal Drainage Board.
The file includes ornithological species lists.

The file is a chronological series of letters and management papers, collated at YWT headquarters during its involvement with the site. The original order has been maintained.

The file also includes correspondence with William Sessions, who was chairman of the New Earswick Nature Reserve and had regular involvement with the Trust, both in matters of conservation and printing.
