Offprints Collection: reprints, offprints and copies of publications citing material from MSC Collections

Scope and Content

OFF/1-300 are physical printed/photcopied articles.

Any offprints/reprints (hardcopy or PDF) which we add to the Offprints Collection will be listed here and where possible, recorded in the Publication Note field for the collection or item catalogue record and/or linked to the specific catalogue record. Any publications which we are made aware of but which we have not collected for the Offprints Collection will instead be mentioned in the Publication Note field for the appropriate collection or item catalogue record, where possible.

Administrative / Biographical History

For a number of years Manuscripts and Special Collections have been collecting offprints or reprints of articles which cite or contain extracts/images from our collections. These are used for answering enquiries and help demonstrate the research significance of our collections. The archive sector considers it important to demonstrate the impact of archives in research by tracking their use in citations. The Offprints Collection may make it possible to track and report on this and also aligns with the activities of the Higher Education sector's Research Excellence Framework (REF).

Arrangement

Order based on the current arrangement off the offprints in file boxes, new additions to be added to the end of the sequence.

Conditions Governing Use

Identification of copyright holders of unpublished material is often difficult.

Permission to make any published use of any material from the collection must be sought in writing on our Permission to Publish form (see the Reprographics Services part of our website or email mss-library@nottingham.ac.uk)

Reprographic copies can be supplied for educational and private study purposes only, depending on access status and the condition of the documents.

Custodial History

The Offprints Collection is housed in 11 box files in the staff office of Manuscripts and Special Collections and can be accessed in the Reading Room at King's Meadow Campus. These articles have not been added to the Reference (special) Collection because they are photocopies or because they are reprints from journals.
