The first two volumes provide full transcriptions of a large proportion of the material now held by Manuscripts and Special Collections as the papers of Hans Willem Bentinck, 1st Earl of Portland (Pw A). There is a general introduction in Dutch and English. The papers themselves are in a variety of languages, predominantly Dutch, French, English, German and Latin. The remaining three volumes provide full transcriptions of relevant material found in other archive repositories.
