This series contains material relating to all aspects of Ian Smith’s creative practice throughout his career. This includes material relating to Smith’s projects as a solo performer and as a performer and artistic director of Mischief La-Bas. It includes material relating to Smith’s performances within the field of music and cabaret, as well as his performances for TV, Radio and Film, often as persona Monty Cantsin. Documentation relating to Smith’s role as master of ceremonies for Circus Archaos and the NRLA are included as part of this series, as well as material relating to Smith’s visual art practice. Due to Smith’s performances often having a literary basis, the series also includes his creative writing and scripts for performance, as well as ideas, sketches and proposals for performances.
