Copy photographs of Frederick Everard Baguley and Ming Te Baguley

Copies of photographs of Frederick Everard Baguley and his wife Ming Te [also known as Lim Beng Teik], together with a caption list. Also includes a copy of 'Everything Became A You', by Ming Te Baguley (1970).

Frederick Everard Baguley was born on 29 July 1909. He studied at manchester University. He was appointed to Hankow with the London Missionary Society and sailed on 19 July 1935. He was married on 13 June 1936 at Shanghai to Beng Tek Lim of Penang. Stationed at Hankow until 1938, where he and Mrs Baguley worked at the Griffiths John School [Griffith John School], then transferred to Kiangtsing. In 1940 they went to Chunking but left in October 1941 on furlough in Penang. They were unable to return to China in the lead-up to WW2 and so proceeded to Australia, staying there for the duration of the War and doing deputation work. They returned in 1946 to Hankow. They left in 1951. In 1952 they opened a Hostel for Malayan Chinese school children and resigned in 1954. Frederick died on 22 November 1964.

Ming Te Baguley was a Malayan-born Chinese. She was born on 13 June 1909. She was one of the first woman barristers to practice in Penang (her sister was the first), but relinquished this career to go to China where she and her husband worked with the London Missionary Society in Hankow. She was the aunt of Chiu Ban It, the first Chinese bishop for Singapore. Mrs Bauguley died on 10 March 1973.
