run between London Euston and Crewe, during which the L.M.S. claimed a speed of 114 mph was achieved, a record at that time. The locomotive was number 6220 'Coronation', a new design by W. A. Stanie of the C.M.E. of the L.M.S.. The engine driver was Tom Clark and the fireman John Lewis of Crewe shed.

Also part of a run from Glasgow to Euston from Carlisle to Euston recording a speed of 109.9mph for five miles between Shap and Tebay.
