Files relating to the establishment of Critical Quarterly

Scope and Content

This series consists of four files, originally stored together in a pocket labelled Critical Quarterly Old Files. They all relate to the setting up and the early days of CQ, including: the establishment of the Honorary Committee intended to give the journal credibility when it was founded in 1958; the establishment of the CQ Society in 1962; the incorporation of CQ as a limited company in 1963; and other matters such as the opening of a CQ bank account, and the receipt of a grant to pay for early secretarial support. CQA2/1/1 includes the company's Memorandum and Articles of Association; and CQA2/1/2 contains the Certificate of Incorporation.
