Many of these papers concern a charity
called 'Martin's Charity'. This was a
bequest of Benjamin Martin to buy land,
and use the rents to give beef to the
poor of Enstone twice a year (see 2D/3
below). These papers include deeds
relating to the purchase of lands, and
accounts of payments. There are also
some accounts for other charities.
