Scope and Content

Monthly profit and loss accounts for the National Coal Board, South Western Division for the period January to December 1947. Contains information on proceeds, wages, holiday pay, workmen's coal, workmen's houses, travelling allowances, mining contract work, workmen's compensation, national insurance, roof supports, general stores, repairs and renewals, power, heat and light, surface damage, wagon charges, salaries, rent, wayleaves etc., rates, superannuation, general expenses, overhead expenses and depreciation (divisional totals), for each individual area (No. 1 Swansea, No. 2 Maesteg, No. 3 Rhondda, No. 4 Aberdare, No. 5 Rhymney, No. 6 Monmouthshire, No. 7 Dean Forest and No. 8 Bristol and Somerset), for anthracite and steam and bituminous districts. All arranged into individual sections with dividers.
