Manuscripts by Clarke relating to Berkshire. The collection includes pedigrees, copies of records, notes and extracts.

Administrative / Biographical History

William Nelson Clarke (1799-1855), whose father lived at Ardington in Berkshire, matriculated from Christ Church, Oxford, 23 May 1817, aged 18 (DCL 1847). He edited a Parochial topography of the hundred of Wanting, with other miscellaneous records relating to the county of Berks (Oxford, 1824), and A collection of letters addressed by prelates and individuals of high rank in Scotland ... to Sancroft, archbishop of Canterbury (Edinburgh, 1848).

H.O. Coxe presented the collection to the Bodleian in 1868.
