Typescript draft of an unpublished novel by Barbara Leonie Picard entitled 'Count Julian and the Witch'. The typescript bears occasional manuscript annotations. The original folder in which this draft was kept bears a manuscript note in Picard's hand which reads 'To be destroyed eventually. 1950s'. This folder is retained within the file.
The file also contains three fragmentary pages of a typescript draft of a play version of 'Count Julian and the Witch', which predate the novel draft. Picard's original idea was to write it as a play, but she abandoned that, thinking the story needed description not just dialogue, and rewrote it as a narrative story. These three pages are all that survive of the original play.
