Administrative / Biographical History

Hanna, Donald & Wilson were shipbuilders based at the Abercorn Foundry and Abbey Works Paisley, Scotland The company was founded in 1851 under the name Hanna and Wilson, changing its name to Hanna, Donald & Wilson in 1870. As well as ship building, they also worked as gas and water engineers, iron founders and bridge and boiler makers. Contracts included navel vessels for the Greek and British Navy, Waverley Station, Edinburgh, St Enoch Station, Glasgow, and the Cumberland and Westmorland Railway. During the 1910s the company was wound up, and the ship yard was sold in 1920.
