Scope and Content

The collection comprises:

Typescript report 'A Joint Equipment and Purchasing Organisation, Nottingham Medical School and Teaching Hospital' by R.G. Bradley, April 1971 (MS 983/1).

Programme for Civic Reception and Ball given by the Lord Mayor and Coporation to celebrate the commencement of The University of Nottingham Medical school, held at the Council House, Nottingham, 26 October 1971 (MS 983/2).

Memorandum from The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham to Mr R.J. Graham, 30 April 1975. Thanking Graham for his memo to Donald O'Dell regarding the move to the Medical Sciences Block (MS 983/3).

Envelope labelled "Royal Visit. Personal and Confidential" containing souvenir material and arrangements for the visit by Queen Elizabeth II and Price Philip to officially open the University Hospital and Medical School Complex on 28 July 1977. Includes an invitation, programme, list of exhibits and demonstrations, correspondence, details of arrangements, and 'thank you' letters written on behalf of the Queen (MS 983/4/1-9).

Photograph album entitled 'Queen's Medical Centre University of Nottingham Medical School' containing 14 colour photographic prints of the official opening by H.M. the Queen, 28 July 1977. Images include views of the exterior of QMC, the QMC Cake, the preparation of the red carpet (man at top of steps next to cleaner is R G Bradley), several photographs of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh with various people and a photograph of two nurses (MS 983/5).

Publication: 'Southend. Journal of the South Nottingham Health District', Vol. III No.16, July/August 1977. Headlined 'Her Majesty opens Queens Medical Centre'. Contains various articles and photographs of the visit (MS 983/7).

Envelope of souvenir items relating to naming of a train 'University of Nottingham'. Includes a platform ticket contained in a presentation folder containing the signatures of various University of Nottingham, Council and British Rail dignatories, and a programme of the naming ceremony on 14 May 1981 (MS 983/8).

R G Bradley worked in the Medical School stores at the University of Nottingham from its inception.
