Eliot and Edith Sitwell; the first anniversary of Yvonne Nicholson's death in August; a visit to Ulverston in September, to join an informal group of poets who meet regularly to discuss their latest work (including Bill Scammell, Rodney Pybus, Geoffrey Holloway and David Scott); and a book on British flowers he has bought Doreen for Christmas, on which he comments.
