Scope and Content

The Israeli Society was set up in 1963. As well as acting as the University society for Israelistudents, and promoting interest in Israel within the University, the Society's original objectivesincluded: "to stimulate discussion with Arab students with a view to settling common problems", andto provide assistance to students interested in learning modern Hebrew. Although the Society hadlinks to the Jewish Society, it was formally independent of it, with different objectives.
