Scope and Content

The collection includes two scientific notebooks of Viriamu Jones, 1891 and 1894. Five offprints of papers by Viriamu Jones published in the Philosophical Transactions and Proceedings of the Royal Society, 1891 and 1897. Four manuscripts as follows: (1) Suggestions towards a determination of the ohm. (2) On standards of low electrical resistance. (3) On the calculation of the coefficient of mutual induction of a circle and a coaxial helix. (4) Observations on dabbling in prism work, 1886-90.

Administrative / Biographical History

John Viriamu Jones, FRS, Principal of University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire 1883-1901 and Professor of Physics. Various printed and manuscript papers were presented by Mrs Viriamu Jones in 1928.
