Administrative / Biographical History
These documents have been transferred to the Modern Records Centre from the University of Warwick Library. Inscriptions identify the original owner of the collection to have been Rev. Brooke Lambert. Lambert was born in Chertsey, Surrey, on 17 Sept. 1834, and studied at King's College, London. He was vicar of St. Mark's, Whitechapel, London, between 1866-1870, vicar at Tamworth between 1872-1878, and vicar of Greenwich, London, between 1880-1901. The collection reflects Lambert's interest in education, health, sanitation and the living conditions (and morality) of the working classes.
Prior to the MRC receiving the collection, the spines of several of the volumes were split and some of the contents appears to have been removed.
This collection is available to researchers by appointment at the Modern Records Centre, University of Warwick. See https://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/library/mrc/using/
