Founded in 1807, the County Fire Office was a sister Company of the Provident Life Office (Founded 1806), based in London. Both companies became subsidiaries of the Alliance Assurance Company in 1906 and were in turn absorbed in the Sun Alliance and London Assurance Group in 1959. The records of the Thorne Agency of the County Fire Office were latterly in the custody of C.W. Waller Esq., of Thorne.
