Scope and Content

Deeds relating to ecclesiastical property in York, 1843, Heworth, 1833, 1868, Apesforth, Nottinghamshire, 1823, and Nether Wallop, Hampshire, 1834, 1839; documents concerning various churches in the diocese of York, including papers relating to the Feoffees of St Saviour's parish, York, 1711-1894, and terriers of Full Sutton, 1825, St Crux, 18th century, and St Olave and St Giles, 1865; survey of tithes of vicar of Grinton n.d; the letter book of E.R. Walker concerning repairs and alterations to Lockton church, visits of inspection, and granting of faculties, 1937-1938; papers relating to the careers of individual clergymen in the diocese of York, viz. Revd John Overton, 1790-1814, Revd James Dallin, 1800-1823, Revd John Overton the younger, 1820, Revd William Overton, 1827, and Revd William Hey, 1881; copy and abstracts of court rolls and surrenders relating to properties held of the manors of Dunnington and Heslington, 1767-1829; records of the manor of Keesberry Hall (Cawood), including court rolls, 1789-1873, 1876-1936, rentals, 1793-1796, and a survey and valuation of Mrs Brown's estate at Cawood, 1810.

Gray, Dodsworth & Cobb was an amalgamation of the York legal firms of Gray and Dodsworth and W. H. Cobb & Sons. It began operating under the name of Gray, Dodsworth & Cobb in 1943.

The archive was deposited at the Borthwick Institute by the firm of Gray, Dodsworth & Cobb in 1966.
