National Gallery Posters

Scope and Content

The collection contains posters produced only by the National Gallery to advertise a range of Gallery activities, including exhibitions, acquisitions, Gallery facilities and events.

Dimensions vary: some posters are smaller than A3 in size (430 x 320mm), however the majority are 765 x 509mm. There are also several posters that measure 1015 x 764mm.

Unless otherwise stated all posters are on paper. While most of the flat posters are in a good condition there are some that have torn and creased edges. Any damaged posters are identified in the catalogue.

Administrative / Biographical History

The majority of these posters have been produced by the National Gallery (Communications department) to publicise notable Gallery activities. 150th anniversary poster designed by Mike Francis added to the series when given as a gift by the artist in May 2013.
