Scope and Content

This file contains the following two items of correspondence from the English Stage Company Limited to Martin Miller (MM) concerning his role as William in "The Making of Moo", written by Nigel Dennis and directed by Tony Richardson (TR) at the Royal Court Theatre in 1957. MM took on the role as a stand-in after the sudden death of actor Esme Percy in June of that year.

-a handwritten note welcoming MM to the "House of Moo" (undated, 1957)

-a handwritten letter of thanks from TR for having taken on the role (undated, 1957)

The file also contains the following two letters:

-a typed letter of thanks for a telegram from TR (11 September 1957)

-a typed letter from Molly May on behalf of the English Stage Company Limited confirming their agreement to allow MM and and the Anglo-Austrian Society to use the Royal Court Theatre on 8 December 1957 for a reading of the play "The Last Days of Mankind" by Karl Kraus.
