Publicity material and publications relating to Martin Miller's activities in the performing arts

Scope and Content

This material in this series consists mainly of theatre programmes, other publicity material and newspaper cuttings relating to Martin Miller's career on the stage, on television and radio, and in film, stretching from his early years in the theatres in Vienna and the regional theatres of Czechoslovakia and Austria in the 1920s, through to his work for the Jüdischer Kulturbund in Berlin in the late 1930s and finally to his career in the English-language performing arts in the UK from the 1940s to the 1960s. It does not include records of his work within the German-speaking exile community of the UK, which is in series 5.

The Millers had stored together newspaper cuttings of productions with the publicity material created by the theatre and other media companies, and the material has been ordered here to reflect this arrangement. The order of the sub-series broadly follows MM's career path from his early years in Austria and Czechoslovakia, to Germany and finally to the UK.
