This is the script of a programme written for BBC Radio's Austrian Service, "James Agate". It was written to commemorate James Agate, the theatre critic, shortly after his death on 6 June 1947. The script was written by Martin Miller; the programme's producer is not known. Although it has not been possible to verify from external sources whether the programme was actually broadcast, the script is marked '9 June 1947' and there is a handwritten note stating '16.30', which suggests that it is likely that the broadcast did actually take place.
