ac [From Newcastle] to Mary Stamp in Alnwick. He congratulates her on her marriage to [JohnStamp], who he does not doubt possesses the highest qualifications necessary to achieve a happymarriage. Spiritual matters are discussed. Atmore speaks with the experience brought by four yearsof happy marriage.

Spiritual matters are discussed with particular regard to the trials which she will experienceas a married woman.

Atmore was happy to hear from her letter to [her father William] Smith that she was so‘comfortable’ - Atmore thinks that they take her absence far better than he expected. Hethinks that her father will soon come and visit her and she must remember that she must visitNewcastle when her husband visits Morpeth and she must send Atmore a few lines before then.

[William] Hunter, who is taking this letter back with him, is about to leave so he will finishin haste. Smith accompanied him to St Anthony’s last night.

Atmore’s dearest wife Betsy joins in sending love.

In a postscript he mentions that [John] Brettel has not arrived yet.
