From G. Vance Smith to F. Baker. Smith writes that he did not attend the meeting as arranged because of the decision of the committee not to remove him to a different ministry in London, which he had been expecting. The decision has meant he is without an income or employment. Smith tells of the proceedings which led to this where several members left the meeting early believing the decision final, but afterwards a vote was cast and Smith was voted against. He feels his prospects are seriously affected by this and that he cannot remain silent on the matter. Smith suspects that there was a conspiracy against him getting the post as others wanted a philosophy teacher instead.
Dated at Manchester.
