File containing a galley proof (printer's proof) of Burgess's translation of Oedipus the King, with associated correspondence.

Scope and Content

Two letters are enclosed from Jeanne Sinnen, Senior Editor of the University of Minnesota Press, to Burgess, dated 2 June 1972 and 7 June 1972. Sinnen comments on the introduction Burgess has written to accompany the publication, raises a question with regards to copyright to the play, and asks Burgess a series of questions about the text.

The galley proof includes handwritten annotations; most of the annotations are presumed to have been made the printer, however Burgess appears to have made a small number of his own corrections and comments on, for example, pages 4, 12, 16, 18 and 19.
