ABBA ABBA

Scope and Content

First published in 1977, the novel ABBA ABBA describes an imaginary encounter between the dying poet, John Keats, and the poet Giuseppe Giacchino Belli in Rome. Burgess divides the book into two parts: the first describes the meeting between Keats and Belli, and the second (originally titled Belli's Blasphemous Bible) contains translations of 71 of Belli's sonnets.

Original title: A Bible for Blasphemers.

This series contains papers relating to Burgess's translation and adaptation of Belli's sonnets.
