Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
In the early 1990s, Stephen M. Clark corresponded with Burgess to discuss his (Clark's) plans to compose an opera, based on Burgess's translation and adaptation of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac.
Although the opera was not completed, Clark did compose a libretto and an overture, which were designed to serve both as a separate concert piece and as an overture to the full opera. Cyranoverture was recorded in c.1993 and released on audio CD.
