Photographs in this series record Burgess's personal and professional life in the UK and beyond and include informal gatherings of friends and family, family holidays and celebrations, such as Burgess and Liana's wedding-day, along with Burgess's professional appearances at, for example, book signings, lectures, premieres, and various television interviews. Among those photographed alongside Burgess are his first wife, Lynne; his widow, Liana; their son, Andrew Burgess-Wilson; the composer, Stanley Silverman; and the writer, Rafael Alberti. Subjects are photographed in a variety of settings (domestic and otherwise) in countries such as Amsterdam, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Malta, Monaco, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
The majority of the images date from the 1970s to the 1990s and are presumed to have been taken by Liana Burgess.
The series is divided into two sections, namely family albums, presumed to have been compiled by Liana, and loose photographic prints.
