Text of a three-act libretto by Burgess. Among its principal characters are a priest, named Paul Deslandres, and a villanous rent collector, named Deschanel.

Administrative / Biographical History

Burgess's libretto was adapted and translated by Jean-Pierre Carasso at the libretto of a marionette opera called Le Bleu-Blanc-Rouge et le Noir. Lorenzo Ferrero composed the score and the premiere took place at the Centre Pompidou in Paris on 15 November 1989, with subsequent productions throughout Europe.
