3) close-up of Burgess sitting in a cafe / bar in Monaco, smoking;

4) close-up of Burgess sitting in a cafe / bar in Monaco signed "For Anthony from Martine - Montecarlo 1985";

5) Burgess in front of an unidentified Christian statue;

6) Entrance to an unidentifiied building.

A letter from Martine Franck to Burgess is also contained within the file, "Thank-you for spending so much time with me - "Liberation" are delighted with the pictures - enclosed is a selection - I believe the special issue is coming out March 22nd - I so enjoyed seeing you again...".

Burgess moved to Monaco with his wife, Liana, and their son, Andrew, in the summer of 1975.


The photograph of Burgess with stuffed baby crocodile is annotated "Published in Liberation "Pourquoi Ecrivez vous?". The close-up of Burgess sitting in a cafe / bar in Monaco, smoking, was published on the front-cover of You've Had Your Time: The Second Part of the Confessions by Anthony Burgess (Grove Weidenfeld, 1990)
