Scope and Content

The full score is dated Lugano 1988 and the piano reduction is "Begun Dec. 31 1987. Finished Jan. 2 1988". The piece is dedicated to Burgess's son, Andrew.

A note to the piano reduction reads "The Cor Anglais part is written a major fifth higher than it sounds."

Administrative / Biographical History

Scored for full orchestra, the concertino was recorded by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in May 1994 and was first broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in 'An Airful of Burgess' on 21 August 1994.

The full orchestral score is available to researchers in consultation with the Archivist due to the condition of the item. (The piano reduction is in a good condition.)
