Cities: from the television series conceived by John McGreevy

Scope and Content

Published in 1981 and edited by McGreevy, the book "Cities" was based on a Canadian documentary television series, first broadcast from 1979 to 1980. The thirteen-episode television series - produced and directed by McGreevy - featured a celebrity who would appear in an episode on location in a personal favourite city and provide viewers with an insight into that location. Burgess appeared in the episode about Rome, and other contributors included Peter Ustinov (Leningrad), Elie Wiesel (Jerusalem), George Plimpton (New York), R. D. Laing (Glasgow), Germaine Greer (Sydney) and John Huston (Dublin).

This series contains a fragment of an outline of Elie Wiesel's chapter about Jerusalem.
