The series contains (incomplete) drafts and a galley proof (printer's proof) of the following articles and essays by Burgess:

1) "Novel", about the genre and history of the novel, which Burgess contributed to the Encyclopaedia Britannica

2) "The Social History of the Piano" / "The Well-Tempered Revolution: A Consideration of the Piano's Social and Intellectual History", with associated correspondence

3) Untitled essay about Hermann Hesse, beginning "Why do the young worship Hermann Hesse? The question, in the form of a transatlantic cable, was handed to me while I was climbing into a motor-caravan en route from Bracciano to Trieste."
