Administrative / Biographical History

Sadlier, Hilgrove, Lowder & Durrell was established in 1770 in Southampton. Following various partnership changes it became known as Atherley, Fall & Atherley from 1821, Atherley & Darwin from 1862, and latterly Atherley, Fall & Co. In 1869 the business merged with another Southampton bank, Maddison & Co. (est. in 1785), to form Maddison, Atherley, Hankinson & Darwin.
