Two design pattern record books titled 'Letter Book'that record: the date; the origination of the design (either Designer's name, previous pattern number, or other source of inspiration); the three letter reference (also referred to as the Pattern Number, which sometimes also appears on the sketches and patterns); a description of the design; the Design Number; the 'Red' Number (which can then be cross referenced with Templeton Register of "Designs Bought" - STOD/DES/201/1/8/1); colouring and weaving details, and the principal worker. The first volume runs from 1902-1932 and the second from 1932 to 1969, and are therefore quite comprehensive.
