844 Fabric samples collected by the company and used by the design department for reference purposes and as inspiration, including Japanese silk embroideries, and Art Nouveau and late 19th century floral designs, which link directly to other parts of the Design Archive. A number have labels, including some from Liberty, while others have notes attached that illustrate they were being used by the design department as a source of inspiration (much like the Templeton sketches) up until the company finished to trade. These items were originally packaged in plastic sleeves and were interspersed with wallpaper samples, cuttings from 19th century furnishing catalogues, and a number of sketches (STOD/201/1/11/3/1-3).
