One volume appears complete, while the other is partial. They are both very fragile with loose pages. The more complete volume has some press cuttings inside the front cover from the Art Journal Illustrated Catalogue: The International Exhibition 1851. The volumes were part of a limited edition of chromo-lithothography prints designed to provide customers with sketches of their Medallion Designs to 'enable purchasers to point out any change of colouring which may be desired'. One volume just includes the images (which are in slightly better condition) but is incomplete, the other includes the design number and a brief description of the design, followed by a colour plate. A number of the original designs can be found in the Design Archive.
