There were a number of charities associated with the North Wales hospital, including the Ablett Testimonial Fund (named after Joseph Ablett, who gave the land on which the hospital was built), the William Jones Bequest founded on 11 December 1865, the private patients fund founded in 1894, and the Christmas gifts fund founded on 20th July 1920. By the 1950s these were administered and managed as one charity under the North Wales Hospital Poor Mental Patients Fund. This later changed its name to the North Wales Fund for the Needy Psychiatric Patients.
