Album titled, 'Autographs, The Hood Monument' containing 135 letters. It is unclear who compiled this album which mainly consists of letters to John and Charles Watkins concerning photography sittings. Also contains examples of letters written to other individuals before and after the Watkins brothers life dates. Some correspondence concerns the memorial to Thomas Hood, Poet (1799-1845) which Charles Watkins was involved in. Contained within the album are three photographs of John Lawrence Toole (NPG Ax36251), Lionel Brough (NPG Ax36252) and Richard James Lane (NPG Ax36253), and drawings by Simeon Solomon (NPG D16955) and W. A. Henry (NPG D16956).

Administrative / Biographical History
John Watkins (1823-1874) and Charles Watkins (1836-1882) were photographers and brothers, often working together. They had a studio at Parliament Street from 1851-1875, in 1861 John Watkins received a royal warrant. It is thought they were related to Herbert Watkins who was also a photographer.
