These diaries were written either by Joseph Peers, the clerk of the peace, Llewelyn Adams, his deputy or by Joseph Peers' clerk. They record the dates of meetings of quarter sessions and visits made on either county or legal business. There are many references to work on the county records - endorsing and arranging letters; entering up and arranging treasurer's vouchers; delivering of registers of voters or having forms printed; deposit of records in the record room in county hall, Ruthin; precepts sent off or advertisements placed in local newspapers. Occasionally there are references to searches in the record room for such records as enclosure awards.
