Rental: Barwick and Scholes (copy)

Scope and Content

This is a 17th century copy of the rental, but many tenants names correspond with the near contemporary item (WYL115/E1/24). It is copied on the narrow parchment roll. The heading is badly damp stained. Nicholas Gascoigne (D1) is listed as a free tenent in Barnbow of a messuage and one bovate of free land late belonging to William Hanson and also, the first entry under the manor of Scholes, he holds a tenement messuage and 2 bovates of bondland in Lasingcroft freely for 1 lb of pepper. There are some membranes missing for Scholes.

(Box 10 G) Latin, parchment, 5mm., sewn chancerywise.
