James Birkeby, citizen and alderman of the City of York. Elizabeth, his wife (? widow of Richard Gascoigne of Barnbow (D8) deceased). Reciting that as several actions at law were depending between the parties, concerning the descent of the lands and goods of Richard Gascoigne of Barnbow (D8) deceased, arbitration was agreed upon and the controversy settled as follows 1 enfeoffs Robert Waterhouse of the Inner Temple, London, esq., and Francis Palmer of Lancelevy co. Southampton, esq., as trustees, in the manor of Barnbow, manor or lordship of Lasingcroft, Shippen, Barrowby, Parlington, Potterton, Hillom, Aberford, Becca, Lotherton, Ardsley, Milford, Garforth and lands in Barnbow, Barwick, Scholes, Lasingcroft, etc. subject to a rent charge of £85 a year in lieu of dower to Elizabeth Birkeby, to the use of John Gascoigne in tale male and remainder in settlement.
